This event is designed for producers who are interested in setting up in poultry production, and will include an introduction to meat birds and laying hens. The demand for local free-range / organic poultry and eggs would be good in many cases, and there is plenty of opportunity for those wanting to start a new enterprise. This event aims to demonstrate the management of poultry and will cover topics such as rearing poultry on a smallholding for direct sale (presented by Pammy Riggs, from the award winning Providence Farm); management of organic laying hens; feed and nutrition; and a poultry health workshop with a poultry vet.
